Actress Jennie Garth and Family Celebrate School Year's Eve August 30 at Disneyland Resort with Cookie and National PTA

New National Holiday is True 'New Year' for Families

Anaheim, CA August 28, 2009 Actress Jennie Garth and her family will celebrate School Year’s EveTM -- a new national holiday developed by Cookie magazine and National PTA to mark the new school year -- on Sunday, August 30th at Mickey’s Toontown at the Disneyland Resort in Southern California. Festivities to ring in the true “New Year” for families will kick off Sunday morning when Garth and her three school-age daughters will commemorate back-to-school alongside local students from Palm Lane Elementary (Anaheim, Ca.).

As the Honorary Family, Garth and her daughters will be on hand to encourage students at interactive stations as they make School Year’s Resolutions. The event will culminate with a celebratory performance of the Mickey’s Morning Madness Show and a countdown to a School Year’s EveTM “Apple Drop”.

The School Year’s EveTM celebration at the Disneyland Resort will be echoed throughout the country on the eve of local school seasons starting, as Cookie and PTA encourage families to host their own parties in honor of the new national holiday to get kids and parents ready and excited about the start of the academic year.

“As families across the country work hard to prepare to head back to school, we’re encouraging families to also enjoy the moment and have fun.  That’s why National PTA is excited to join Cookie to celebrate the new school year and provide another way for parents to get involved in their child’s education,” said Charles J. “Chuck” Saylors, National PTA President.

“Celebrating School Year’s Eveis a fun way to mark such a special time of year for families, and it gets kids and their parents ready and excited for the start of school. We are thrilled to have our partner the PTA join us as well as Jenny Garth and her family to kick off this year’s celebration at the Disneyland Resort,” Cookie Magazine’s Publisher Carolyn Kremins says.
