INSPIRING VOLUNTEERISM -- Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and Sweetums take part in  “Disney’s Honorary VoluntEars Cavalcade” at both Disneyland park in California and Magic Kingdom park in Florida. The cavalcade celebrates volunteerism. On March 9, 2010, it was announced that “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day” – a first-of-its-kind program of Disney Parks –  reached its goal of inspiring 1 million people in 2010 to give back to their communities through volunteer service in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.  Since the program started just 10 weeks ago, on Jan. 1, a million people already have volunteered or committed to volunteer in their communities, according to Disney Parks and HandsOn Network, the nation’s largest volunteer network and a facilitator of “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day.”  Although the program has ended and a free Disney theme park ticket will no longer be provided, those still interested in volunteering may search for opportunities through HandsOn Network at www.HandsOnNetwork.org. DISNEY CRUISE LINE ALASKA BOUND: On Sept. 11, 2009, Disney Cruise Line announced plans to sail to Alaska in 2011. This will be the first time Disney Cruise Line will sail to Alaska and the first time a Disney cruise ship will call the West Coast home for an entire year. Disneyland Celebrates Independence Day with Fireworks July 2-5

The Disneyland Resort has celebrated the glory of fireworks since 1957 with numerous spectacular shows.  The long-standing tradition continues with a star-spangled presentation for Independence Day, with Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky, July 2 through July 5. The “Magical” fireworks show returns July 6. In Florida, Walt Disney World Resort will also celebrate the holiday with fireworks and a special Naturalization ceremony on July 3, saluting 1,000 immigrants from more than 100 countries who will be “sworn in” as American Citizens. Moms from every state took part in the biggest Celebration of Moms in the history of Disney Parks. Winners of the Macy's "Celebrate Mom" Sweepstakes traveled coast-to-coast on this magical adventure which began Monday June 22, 2009 with a sunrise breakfast on Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland Resort in California and ended Thursday June 25, 2009 with a sunset dinner at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
